Ana Luísa Ramos

Ana Luísa Ramos is an award-winning Brazilian singer-songwriter based in St. John’s, Canada. She recently won Jazz Artist of the Year and Global Artist of the Year—two of the five nominations at the 2024 MusicNL Awards.

Ana’s music is influenced by Brazilian Bossa Nova composers, such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, and the greatest of North American jazz, like Ella Fitzgerald. Her thoughtful lyrics and beautiful arrangements create a unique and contemporary sound, where the Brazilian tropical sun reflects on the stormy and windy landscapes of Newfoundland.

For the last two decades, Ana has worked in both classical and popular fields, performing across Europe, South, Central, and North America. Throughout her career, she has contributed to over 18 albums across various projects. In 2016, Ana released her first solo album, Um, followed by Amanheceu in 2021, which earned her the 2021 MusicNL Jazz Artist of the Year award and a nomination for Global Artist of the Year.

Ana also actively collaborates with singer-songwriter Eric Taylor Escudero in their duo project, Ana & Eric. The duo released their debut self-titled EP through The Citadel House in November 2020, followed by Our House From Here, which earned them three 2023 MusicNL nominations and one 2024 ECMAs nomination.

Ana Luísa Ramos recently released her third solo album, Solaris, recorded across Canada, the USA, and Brazil. The album explores themes of love in its various forms, featuring songs in both Portuguese and English.
